Today I welcome Anne Buckley-Reen, OTR, RYT. She has trained with the famous Sonia Sumar (like me!) She has started a daily classroom yoga program in the NYC schools, District 75.  It is based Yoga for the Special Child.  Currently she is conducting a research study involving about 100 classrooms.

I know that many of you are interested in getting yoga into your child’s life… Your wish is on the horizon and hopefully yoga will become a part of your child’s life sooner than you think!

As always, I thank you for listening.

Guten Tag,

Today is an open forum for you!  Thank you so much to all the parents and caregivers who sent me questions to answer on the air!  I hope my answers will guide you in the right direction and my solutions will help your children thrive.  The phone is open for questions as well, if your still feeling shy while the show is running, no problem! You can email or send me messages through facebook during the show as well.

I met so many open and interesting families in the past week.  The talk I gave at Rescources for Children with Special Needs Inc.was off the charts with energetic people.  So much energy in the room that after three hours, I still had more to share.  If you are interested in ANYTHING for your child with special needs, please contact either myself or www.resourcesnyc.org.

I also had a table at the Midwood Mardi Gras in Brooklyn this past Sunday. Hot as it was, families were out in full force and some very special families stopped by to chat, and see what I had to offer. Most were interested in Yoga.  If you are interested in Yoga for your child, but one on one is not for you, email me with your interest and I will look into starting a program in your community!

As always thank you for listening, the biggest compliment is to spread the word to your friends!

Shalom!

I welcome Jackie Ceonzo, executive and founder of SNACK, Special Needs
Activity Center for Kids, located in NYC.  Jackie has been named New
Yorker of the week twice on channel NY 1 and has been in magazines and
newspapers talking about her organization.

Jackie was looking for a special needs recreational program for her
then eight-year-old son, Joey. After thoroughly researching and
investigating all of the options available to her in Manhattan, she
found no facility that could meet her son’s needs.  She reasoned that
there were numerous other parents who were looking for just such a
place and program, so she began to formulate a plan with her husband,
Joe Ceonzo, to establish a center where Joey, now 14 years old, and
other children with special needs could feel comfortable playing and
socializing, while learning practical skills in a fun, creative
environment.

This center of fun, is right in line with my beliefs in having a child
thrive in life and feel a part of his/her community.  I am looking
forward to having her share information about this amazing place!

I have been looking forward to this show for so long! The one and only Nicole Turon-Diaz!  We’ll be talking about her involvement with  Joey Travolta’s film camp, Marblejam kids and www.Lbdesign.org  check out her website to see how cool and inspiring she is!

There have been numerous studies on how great creative arts is for all children.  For children on the Autism spectrum and with behavior difficulties, expressing themselves is not easy.  Using creative art in any form will allow a child how to communicate using a way that will help them grow and glow.  Whether it be music, painting, drawing, writing, singing, or dancing, it’s all helping a child  thrive, adding a little more joy to this world, and a lot of magic to a child’s life.

Support the arts….

Today I welcome Carol Greenburg, she is a special education advocate and consultant. She helps parents get the services their kids are entitled to.  She will also share her own personal experiences as an adult with Aspergers.

Secondly I welcome Natalie, my little client (and friend) Gabe’s Mom.  I’ve been working with Gabe since October of this year.  I see him every day for 3 hours as his teacher and therapist. Natalie will share her experiences of being a Mother with a child with special needs and the changes that she’s seen in her son.   I use many approaches to get Gabe to be successful and to learn, including yoga.  The most important method I use with Gabe is to respect him and best of all – we play…

Good Morning!  I am proud to welcome Masha Levina, Clinical Nutritionist, to the show today.   She thinks out of the box, so obviously  we were naturally drawn to each other.  I immediately asked her to be on my show.  I had heard about her for years through my friend and his Mother for the amazing results they have for their own health issues, and working with her.

When speaking with her I found out she works with children and will explain how nutrition influences children’s bodies “I realize now that I found my dream and that I am making it real – my goal is to continue to guide people to a better health naturally so that everyone can concentrate on realizing their dream rather than struggle with poor health.”  – Masha Levina http://www.allbettercentral.com/13.html

I am excited to present two wonderful women discussing their organizations!
First Lisa Chin, CEO of  FirefliesNY™will discuss her beliefs that the study of martial arts can help a child with autism build strong bridges between mind and body, between the child’s inside self and the world outside. She will share how TaeKwonDo can bring a sense of calmness and peace, both physically and spiritually, that increases focus, reduces stress, reduces anxiety and aggression, prevents or minimizes “meltdowns,” and helps a child with autism progress more smoothly along their often rocky path.  She is located in Brooklyn and her website is:http://www.firefliesny.com/index.asp

My second guest is Nicole Cerimele from KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) This organization is a national, nonprofit volunteer-led organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities at no cost to their families and caregivers. Neither income nor the severity of a child’s disability is a barrier to joining a KEEN program. Their mission is to foster the self-esteem, confidence, skills and talents of its athletes through non-competitive activities, allowing young people facing even the most significant challenges to meet their individual goals.

Thank you for tuning in, and remember we are ALL someones beautiful child with needs that are special.
