WHAT’S WRONG WITH PESTICIDES
Steal this Radio host Mitchel Cohen and ecology writer Cathryn Swan interview Dr. Robert Simon, toxicologist, and discuss pesticides in general and the ongoing meetings between the No Spray Coalition (against application of toxic pesticides) and the NYC government, Environmental Protection Agency, and the Occupation, Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Dr. Simon runs through the details concerning Malathion and its breakdown products; Pyrethroids; and other pesticides, and examines the history (and myths) of spraying in New York City in particular.
He especially calls to attention so-called synergists such as piperonyl butoxide that are included in the spraying mixtures, which is of itself a cancer-causing chemical.
