"Lifeisstrange – Time management and teenage problems"
The game throws us off the bat from the very beginning – noise, a storm, a frightened girl, a mysterious lighthouse and a monstrous tornado that will engulf a small town any minute. A change of frame – and we are already in the classroom, teenage reflections on a cute teacher and punctuation with the arrogant class. And again a tense scene, already in the bathroom. Drugs, blackmail, a rich student with a gun, an unexpected murder by him is stunning news – the main heroine of the game, a student photographer Max Caulfield, knows how to rewind time.
Next, the game enters into a very slow pace of narration – trying out new forces in the classroom to give the right answer, change the situation in the school toilet, teach a harmful classmate, in general, what a good half of teenagers would do if they received such strength.
The gameplay is based on walking and choosing answers/actions. This may well remind the player of HeavyRain only on the scale of the life of a quiet schoolgirl, and the spirit of AlanWake clearly blows from locations with a quiet town, forest and autumn.
The game follows the fashion of recent times – it comes out in episodes (there are 5 planned in total). The first episode lasts about two hours of the game, but there are no significant events there. Max communicates with friends, solves the problems of neighbors in the dorm, plays guitar, learns the secrets of classmates, meets girlfriends. A little suffering, a little youthful philosophy and guitar music in the background. And that tornado appears again only at the end of the episode.
In the second episode, the heroine learns to use her newfound gift, learns its price, gets into trouble, makes decisions on which someone else's life depends – LifeisStrange has come to life a little, however, still remains unhurried.
On May 19, episode 3 of the game was released, which looks very promising. Investigations, a lot of events, clues appear and the characters' connections with each other are revealed, dialogues have improved, characters are growing above themselves, and elections really affect the environment and history.
"LifeisStrange" is definitely worth attention. A famously twisted plot, interconnected stories, a sufficient number of characters, beautiful views and pleasant music. The game is not without drawbacks, but they are fully compensated by the advantages mentioned earlier.
